Can't wait for summer...or for the snow to be gone

In this post I'll tell you about how you can get 50% off the Herbal One program...first a rant.

When I woke up this morning I was greeted to a view of sunshine and a green lawn. It was nice to see the grass back, even if it was still frigid outside. Alas all my happiness would disappear when I discovered the 15cm of snow that was in the forcast.

I hate snow. Both the fluffly kind and the Canadian rapper. I'll tell you why I hate snow. Three winters in Northern Ontario caused me to hate snow. Imagine if you will, 8 foot hill snowbanks. Do you have any idea how hard it is to shovel snow over an 8-foot high snowbank???

Maybe you're having trouble seeing it in your mind....here's some photos to help:

These photos are from my former roommate in Timmins, ON from our old house.

You can see how much snow has fallen there as of mid-January. Keep in mind, this is a "light" year for snow in the North.

How I never suffered a snow-shovelling related heart attack is beyond me.

Oh and here's the best part...

In the 3+ years I lived in Timmins, there was only one month out of 12 where it DID NOT snow - AUGUST! I saw it snow every month. I kid you not when I say it snowed on Canada Day one year.

So now you know why I'm a little down on days when it snows. Maybe some day I'll find a love for it once again, but until then (and with apologies to Bill Porter and all other skiers, snowmobiles, etc) I HATE SNOW!!!

Okay moving along...I'm at the halfway point of Week 4 on the Herbal One program and so far everything is going well. In fact, I didn't mention this in the last entry, but if you contact Herbal One and mention that you heard about it on Energy or from me, they'll give you 50% off the program. It's a heck of a value and well worth getting in touch with them for a consultation.

Give them a call at 748-9999 and the staff will get you set up and answer any questions you may have.

Until next time, Happy Shovelling!

And so it begins...

This first blog entry comes just as I've begun my fourth week on the Herbal One program.

Now in case you've heard me talk about it on-air but you don't know the details, here's some background information.

I started on the Herbal One program because I'm hoping to achieve a healthy weight. Weight-loss is a huge topic in our society today, watch TV for five minutes and you'll see that damn Special K challenge commercial or the yogurt one where, for some reason, the woman seems to have her own orbit (know the one I'm talking about?)

Anyway, fact is, I'm a young guy (early 20's) that's been overweight his whole life and I want to be healthy for the future. I'd like to see my kids grow up...even though I don't have any kids (that I know of) I'd just like to be healthy for when I do.

So I went into Herbal One and began my program. The Herbal One program isn't a diet, but rather a lifestyle change. It means making a lot healthier choices, like say an apple instead of a chocolate bar for a snack. It means sticking to a program, eating a balanced diet and taking supplements to help you along the way.

The part I like the most is the staff. I go in three times a week to be weighed and have my food diary analyzed. They'll tell me if I'm making the right choices, answer questions about what I can do to eat healthier and even give me restaurant and recipe guides so I can go out to eat or do my own cooking. They work to help me succeed and that extra push really helps.

The good news is after three full weeks on the program, I'm down 17.5 lbs and 29.5 inches - and that's huge numbers. I'm shocked, as is the staff at Herbal One. The program really works - and I was just about as skeptical as anyone when I first started.

Right now I'm at about 250 lbs - I'm hoping to trim that to about 200 but the end of the summer. To achieve that I'd only have to lose like 8 lbs / month. Very easy as long as I stick to program.

I'll admit there's been some challenges these last few weeks. Bill Porter from the Morning Show and I are good buddies and got to Boston Pizza every Monday for Mug Club Night....yes....for beer. Beer isn't the greatest option when you're trying to lose weight. So I just stick to one, maybe two light beers. The first day of the program I drank about five times that amount and lets just say it showed on the scale.

This coming weekend represents another challenge with the Super Bowl. I automatically connect the Super Bowl with pizza, beer, chicken wings and various other delicious food....I think there's football involved too. This year, I'll take it easy on the beer and still have chicken, but likely on a salad. Sure, it's a break from "tradition" but then again it's not like I'll never be able to have chicken wings again.

Stay tuned for more updates on my progress with the Herbal One program. To get more info for yourself, contact Herbal One in Peterborough at 748-9999 or online at www.herbal-1.com
